the map configurator
You frame it. We forge it.
Pan to your place and frame the land you love. Or don't. Up to you, really.
Ready for the cart
This preview build does not sell anything. On the live page these travel with the order as line item properties - the shop rebuilds the exact piece from them, nothing else needed:

Built on official USGS elevation data.
Features
Lakes, rivers, roads and trails from OpenStreetMap.
Material
Fourteen named PETG colors. Every one is a real spool on our shelf.
Geometry
Machine-verified watertight before it ever prints.
Printed
Layered color on a Bambu H2D, in the USA.
Proofed
One craftsman checks every single order before it prints.
The promise
Your exact 3D proof lands in your inbox before anything prints.
The fine print
Usually within a day. Reply to change anything, free. If it looks right, sit tight - we start printing after a short hold.
The KF filament line
Named for the places they print
Sitka Spruce. Canyon Clay. Deep Pacific. Every color in the studio is a real spool of PETG racked on our shelf in Michigan, named for the terrain it was picked to print. Pick it on the map above and that exact spool gets loaded into the printer.
Sitka Spruce
Tundra Olive
Coastal Fern
Alpine Lake
Fjord Blue
Deep Pacific
Granite
Arctic White
Basalt Black
Bear Brown
Driftwood
Dune Sand
Canyon Clay
Red Rock
PETG only, chosen to shrug off sun, dust and hot-car summers. On-screen color is our best match; the printed spool is the real thing.
Up close
Carved in layered color
Lakes sit glass-smooth in their own color, sunk into the terrain.
Upload a GPX and make a map that's yours
Hometown? Hideaway? You're covered.
Roads, rivers, trails & rails supported
Flip it over. Your state's outline, your title and the exact coordinates, engraved in a ring. No two are alike, and the back says so.
What sizes can I get?
Three: a 120 mm gift size, a 180 mm standard and a 240 mm large format, from $49. The size is the longest side; the other side follows the shape of the land you frame. A framed border is optional on any size. The gift size keeps it clean with terrain, water and rivers; roads, trails and snow ride the two larger sizes, and a loaded GPX route prints at any size.
What is it made of?
Our own KF filament line: fourteen PETG colors named for the terrain they print, like Sitka Spruce, Canyon Clay and Deep Pacific. Every color you can pick is a real spool racked on our shelf, and the one you choose is the one that gets loaded into the printer. Printed in layered color on a Bambu H2D here in the USA. PETG shrugs off sun and hot summers; the brittle stuff never touches a map.
How does the proof work?
Before anything prints, we email you an exact 3D proof of your piece, usually within a day. Want something moved, recolored or reframed? Just reply to the email, free. If it looks right, do nothing - we start printing after a short hold.
When does it ship?
Every map is made to order in Michigan. Your proof comes first; once it is settled, your map prints and ships within 5-7 business days. Free US shipping on orders over $55.
Can I return it?
Every map is carved for one place and one person; nobody else wants your lake as much as you do. That is what the proof is for: nothing prints until it looks right to you. And if what arrives is wrong in any way, we make it right, no questions asked.
Is this a good gift?
It is the best one we make. Frame their lake, their ridge or the town they grew up in, add a title (a cabin name, a date, an inside joke) and it gets engraved on the back with the exact coordinates. The 3D proof lands in your inbox, not theirs, so the surprise holds. On a deadline? Email us and we will tell you straight whether it can make it.
Why not just buy a poster?
A poster is a picture of a place. This is the place, carved in relief you can run a thumb across, printed from real spools of filament, with the coordinates engraved on the back. Custom relief carvings routinely sell for $300 and up. Ours start at $49 because the printers, the filament and the proofing all live under one roof in Michigan. No middlemen to feed.
Where can my map be?
Anywhere in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, from about 2 km across up to 900 km. Somewhere else in mind, or a custom shape? Contact us and we will quote it by hand.
